Harry van Kuyk, graphic artist and graphic designer from Nijmegen, is the inventor of a printing technique in the arts which produces an unprecedented relief. He used a special press to create an alternation of extreme high and deep levels in thick paper without the use of ink or paint: white on white.
Van Kuyk was trained in the world of typesetting and printing and letters. Words and typography run like a thread throughout his work. He often collected his prints in monumental editions with limited copies, all made in his own workshop. Many of these were accompanied by texts. His prints with relief have been exhibited worldwide and are increasingly popular collector's items.
Harry van Kuyk's work is an extraordinary contribution to the Dutch history of graphic art and book printing. This contribution is acknowledged and celebrated by the recently published book White on white. And black.
